I had a very interesting childhood to say the least. I have many memories of the things I loved and enjoyed under the age of ten. One of the things I loved was TV. One of my favorite shows happened to be Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Despite Paul Reubens being arrested for exposing himself in an Adult Movie Theater there were many lessons I learned from his show and his character, Pee-Wee.
Perhaps I am not right in the head, or perhaps my jovial and enthusiastic disposition finds a connection to a song from his show. Pee-Wee had a skit that he did every episode. It was called “Connect The Dots”.

Now that you have “La La La La” stuck in your head let me make my point. We each have our own magic screen, its called a computer and the dots lay in front of us via social media. Making a connection with a person goes beyond what that person can perhaps do for you or simply by being “connected” or “Linked-In”. I encourage you to sing this song, paying it forward by connecting the dots for other individuals within your network. It is really quite simple and I owe most of my success personally and professionally to this single thought. “I am here to help people”. How do I do this? I do this by connecting these people to other individuals that I have met. Individuals that have a need, connected to individuals who have an answer to that need with me being the connector.
A good book to read is the “Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It offers a great perspective on giving instead of getting. The fact of the matter is that we live in a world of “WIIFM’s” or Whats In It For Me individuals. It is quite easy to stand out if you become the one that connects, if you are the one who connects the dots with or without the La La La La.
